Richard "Rick" Harry Stiemsma

Richard Harry Stiemsma passed away August 15, 2016 following a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 31, 1958 to Gerrit and Helena Stiemsma.

Rick married Sharry Katsma on May 10, 1980. Together they had two children, Erin (John) Stampfli and Greg Stiemsma. Both families are growing with John and Erin welcoming a new baby girl, Arya and Greg soon to be wed to Emily Behrman.

Proceeded in death by Father Gerrit Stiemsma, Mother in law Vernette Katsma, Brother in law Don Katsma, and Brother in law Jim Reilley.

Sports were always a big part of Rick’s life, including playing, watching, and coaching. Over the years he built countless relationships with the athletes he coached. During the five year struggle he touched many lives and inspired many people through his faith and belief in God.

He is survived by Mother Helena Stiemsma, Sisters Yvonne Reilley, Shirley (Ron) Schueler, and Harriet (Tim) Omen. Brother in laws Dave (Mary) Katsma, Doug (Peggy) Katsma, and Dan (Amy) Katsma. Sister in laws Karen (George) Aalsma, and Vicki Katsma and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Rick will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4-7:00 P.M. at First Randolph Christian Reformed Church, N8879 East Friesland Road, Randolph and on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

A funeral service for Rick will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at N8879 East Friesland Road , Randolph Pastor Elliott Pollasch officiating. Burial will follow at Friesland Cemetery.
