William Fred Woelffer of Randolph, passed away on August 14, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison, WI.
Bill was born July 13, 1942, in Watertown, WI, the son of John and Evelyn (Lambrecht) Woelffer. Bill was baptized at St. Lukas Church, Ixonia, WI. When he was two, his family moved to Randolph, where he attended the Randolph Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. He completed a one year course at the Barre School of Art, in Barre, VT. He returned to Randolph to join his father in the family business, Randolph Memorials. Bill served in the Air National Guard for 6 years, based out of Truax Field, Madison WI.
On June 20, 1964, Bill was united in marriage to Linda Plagenz. They were married at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kingston. Together they were blessed with three daughters. They faithfully followed their children’s school activities and sporting events. Bill enjoyed the camaraderie of the Randolph Rockets sports teams and continued to follow the basketball team long after his children graduated. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing and bowling with friends.
Tombstone loved people and spirited conversation, which he received daily from his dear friends during morning coffee at Denise’s Café.
One of his great joys in life was hunting in many parts of North America with his friends. His travels included Alaska, Canada, Wyoming, New Mexico, the Dakotas, Colorado and more. His proudest moments were at the annual trip “up north” for opening weekend of deer season, sharing memories and snowsnake medicine with his family and hunting buddies. Bill spread his passion of hunting to his grandchildren by mentoring, encouraging and celebrating in their successes.
Bill and Linda operated Randolph Memorials from 1970 to 2009. They retired, moving north of Randolph where he spent hours creating and turning variegated wood bowls and vases, which he shared with family and friends.
