Shirley Margaret Johnsen, 86, of Waupun died peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her daughters.
Shirley was born on December 30, 1929, in Superior, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Prothero) Ulvi.
Shirley was an avid seamstress and quilter. She also loved to knit and crochet. Her family will always remember her for sewing underwear, knitting dishcloths, and baking banana bread and Next Best Thing to Robert Redford Cake.
She worked for the postal service for 10 years, and then enjoyed a long retirement involving a lot of travel, visiting all 50 states with her husband, Robert, of 61 years.
Shirley is survived by her 5 daughters, Sandy Tucker of Missouri, Susan Johnsen of California, Karen Johnsen of Minnesota, Linda (Eugene) Bodden of Wisconsin, and Kathy (Joe) Johnson of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; many great grand children; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Johnny) Johnsen, her parents Elmer & Margaret Ulvi, her 2 brothers, Milton and Harold Ulvi, sister Clarice, and two sons-in-law, Charles "Stretch" Tucker and Jonathan Gatlin.
Following her request there will be no services. Burial will take place in Wascott Wisconsin Cemetery on October 1, 2016.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s name.
