Thomas William Norton, of Randolph age 94, passed away on July 26, 2016 at his favorite place Wilderness Campground surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was born on September 10, 1921 in Covington, Kentucky, son of Thomas and Ethel (Dickson) Norton. In 1941 Tommy enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He participated in action against the enemy in Guadalcanal, B.S.I. In 1945 at the end of World War II, he was honorably discharged. He loved to spend time at the Wilderness Campground enjoying nature. Tommy enjoyed traveling, golfing, gambling, fishing and Sunday family dinners. Tommy spent a lot of time with family and friends, as well as visiting with his fellow veterans. He loved conversation about the Bible and taking rides in his purple convertible. Tommy was a very loving and giving person. He left a piece of him everywhere he went.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Colleen Norton of Rothschild and son, Glenn (Patricia) Norton of Wausau; two grandchildren, Daniel Norton of Wausau and Emily Norton of Clintonville; brother, Roger (Mary) Norton of North Carolina; two sisters, Angeline Norton of California, Elaine Smith of Kentucky and mother of his children, Luella Norton of Rothschild; extended family, daughter, Arylss (James) Koopmans and their children, Micki Koopmans and her children, Tristen and Jayden, Cheri Koopmans and her children, Kiana, Shaylee and Addison “Blondy”; Dawn (Jefferey) Nehmer and their children, Caleb and Brent; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley and Elmer Norton; sister, Anna Norton and a great grandson, Brady Nehmer.
A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 South High Street, Randolph, with Chaplain David Brynelson officiating. Burial will take place in the Randolph Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 9510 of Randolph.
A visitation for Tommy will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 South High Street, Randolph.
A memorial fund has been established in Tommy’s name.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, Renee Everette, Amy Wagner and social worker, Rebecca as well as Chaplain David Brynelson, and respecting his last wish by allowing him to enter eternal life at the place he loved most, Wilderness Campground.
