Melvin Peter Holbach, age 89 of Waupun, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Melvin was born on October 26, 1926, on the family farm, in the Town of Chester, Dodge County, WI, a son of Peter and Rose (Schreiner) Holbach.
On May 6, 1950 he was united in marriage to Mildred Van Buren in Beaver Dam, WI. Melvin farmed on various farms throughout the years and was employed at National Rivet for 5 years. Melvin retired in 1989 after 18 years with the City of Waupun Street Department. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing cards. Melvin especially loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waupun.
Melvin is survived by his wife Mildred; two daughters, Linda (Dale) Kovalaske of Waupun and Lois (Al) Heiman of Columbus, and a son Larry (Nancy) Holbach of Pardeeville; six grandchildren, Amy (Austin) Boelk of Milton, Kati (Hans) Sandberg of Columbus, Kristen Kovalaske of Genoa City, Darin (Katie) Kovalaske of Larsen, and Brady and Aaron Holbach of Pardeeville; two great grandchildren Lincoln Boelk and Lizzie Sandberg; two sisters, Virginia (Eugene) Rake of Columbus and Loretta Peters of Horicon; two sister-in-laws, Ida Holbach of Burnett and Jean Holbach of Florida; further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parent-in-laws; siblings, Henry (Florence and Delores) Holbach, Rosella (Hilbert) Frey, Florence (Edwin) Kovalaske, Richard (Shirley and Aggie) Holbach, Edward “Butch” Holbach, Wilfred Holbach, in-laws Leroy Peters, Elmer (Josie) Van Buren, Jennie Van Buren, Minnie (Elmer) Frey, Earl (Esther and Shirley) Van Buren and John Van Buren Jr.
Visitation for Melvin will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun, with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Mound Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Christian Home Building Fund or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
