Peter Adams DeYoung, 59, Friesland, passed away January 11, 2016 surrounded by family at UW Hospital after a short battle to recover from a severe brain injury.
Born on June 20, 1956 in Wilmington, DE to Del and Doris (Adams) DeYoung, Peter moved along with his parents to Friesland where he enjoyed growing up in a small town with cousins and friends. He graduated from Hope College in 1978 with a BA in Business, and joined the family trucking/warehousing business where he worked for 37 years doing accounting work. An epileptic for nearly 50 years, Peter demonstrated grace and determination to live life independently and succeeded in making the best of his God given gifts. Having the First Reformed Church in Friesland at the center of his life, Peter very much enjoyed working with the junior high youth group for many years, and was a dedicated Packer fan/owner. As a quick study of financial markets, he spent a lot of time watching and researching the stock market, constantly changing up his portfolio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by step-mother Betty DeYoung, Randolph, sister Mary DeYoung, Wauwatosa, and brother Jim DeYoung, his wife Holly, and their daughters Tessa and Becca, Beaver Dam.
Visitation will be at First Reformed Church in Friesland on Monday, January 25th from 9:00am – 11:00, with a service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Kids Approaching Our Savior (K.A.O.S.) the First Reformed Junior High Youth Group at 107 E. Winnebago, Friesland, WI 53935, or Words of Hope at woh.org/support.
