Hazel Anna Vande Berg

Hazel Anna Vande Berg, age 89 of Fox Lake, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Hazel was born on September 26, 1926 in Fox Lake, WI, a daughter of George and Violet (Whipple) Witthum. On October 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to Christopher Vande Berg Jr. at First Reformed Church of Waupun. Hazel was a resident of Fox Lake for over 50 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was known for her home baked cookies. Hazel retired from Kolpin Manufacturing after 25 years and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Fox Lake for over 50 years.

Hazel is survived by a daughter, Lynda Gehler of Eau Claire; a son, Kenneth G. Vande Berg of Fond du Lac; a grandson, Matthew Gehler of Yuma, AZ; a great-grandson, Austin of Eau Claire; two sisters, Millie Vande Zande of Waupun and Frances Riel of Waupun; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Hermann of Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher in 1965, her son, Gary in 2014 and her sister, Bernice Vande Berg.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

A funeral service for Hazel will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 110 Edgelawn Drive in Fox Lake, WI, with Pastor David Nottling officiating. Burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the Township of Trenton, WI, on Highway 151 between Beaver Dam and Waupun.

A memorial fund as been established in Hazel’s name.
