James "Jim" Dykstra

James Dykstra, age 82 of Waupun, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital of Fond du lac.

James was born on September 16, 1933 in the township of Scott, the son of Jense and Nellie (Havinga) Dykstra. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Pask on January 26, 1957. Jim worked as a dump truck driver most of this life. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and car racing. Jim’s biggest passion was racing. He especially loved racing with his son Lloyd, grand children Kim and Tyler and his great grandson Ryan. The best memories were racing with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife Dorothy of 58 years and their children Carolyn (Mike) Mueller, Susan (David) Howard, Debbie DeVries and Lloyd Dykstra all of Waupun; 12 grandchildren Patricia Sullivan, Bert Clover, Kimberly Clover, September Casteel, Ashley Mueller, Julie (Schawn) Pankow, Katie Howard (Jeremy Vander Woude), Becky DeVries, Andrew DeVries, Mason Dykstra, Tyler Brabant, Kylee Brabant; 2 great grandchildren Ryan Sullivan and Kendall Pankow; two sisters Marion Alsum of Friesland and Darlene Hein of Beaver Dam; two brothers Dick (Darlene) Dykstra of Kingston and Pete (Carol) Dykstra of Malone; two sisters-in-law Phyllis (Willis) Heideman of Mayville and Henrietta Blatz of New Holstein, several nieces, nephews, and racing friend Jim Spanbauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Derek DeVries, three brothers Gerrit De Boer, Louie De Boer and Leo De Boer; three sisters Tillie Brotowski, Nellie Ferge and Sarah Preuss; two siblings in infancy; three sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 3 P.M. with visitation at 1 P.M. until the time of service on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison Street, Waupun with Rev. David Knuth officiating. Private burial will take place at Forest Mound Cemetery at a later date.
