Theresa Charlotte Devries

Theresa Charlotte DeVries, age 71 of Randolph, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Theresa was born on January 31, 1944 in Friesland, WI, a daughter of Charles and Grace (Jansma) Wiersma. She was a graduate of Cambria High School in 1962. On July 1, 1966 she married Harris DeVries at First Reformed Church in Friesland, WI. She received her teaching degree from Columbia County Teachers College and was a substitute teacher for Beaver Dam and Randolph schools. Theresa was also a bookkeeper for the family business L&R DeVries & Sons 4th generation milk trucking company. She was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church as well as a Sunday school teacher and a Calvinette Leader. Theresa’s grandchildren were the love of her life. Her hobbies included reading and flower gardening.

Theresa is survived by her 4 children, Larry (Cheri) DeVries, Gary (Julie) DeVries, Randy (Marsha) DeVries and Tricia (Jeff) Rataczak, all of Randolph; 13 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Heidi, Lindsey, Jordan, Randy, Gage, Brandyn, Mariah, Brady, Jax, Madalyn, Bryce and Cody; 2 sisters, Gladys (Joel) Hansma of California and Lillian (Bill) Kuiper of Illinois; 3 brothers, Ronald Wiersma of Virginia, George (Linda) Wiersma of Beaver Dam and Eldon Wiersma of Cambria; 2 sisters-in-law, Justine (James) Boomsma of Randolph and Patricia (John) Pothof of Cambria; 2 brothers-in-law, Thomas Tamminga of Randolph and Alan (Cindy) DeVries of Friesland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris, in 2002, her parents, parents-in-law, Peter and Nina DeVries and a sister, Gloria Tamminga.

A celebration of Theresa’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph, with Rev. Keith Buist officiating. Burial to follow at Randolph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at church and on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.

A memorial fund has been directed to Second Christian Reformed Church of Randolph and Randolph Christian School.
