Jenkins, Sherwood - Passed with peace on December 14, 2015 with family and the loving caregivers of Continental Manor at his side.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Ardis in 1997. Survived by his sister, Donna Gossink, Fox Lake, WI, son Dennis Sherwood (Elizabeth) Jenkins, Beaufort, SC, daughter Mary Jill (Santo) Mortillaro, Hubertus, WI; grandchildren: David Sherwood (Sally) Jenkins, Monte Sereno, CA, Andrea Jo Jenkins, Hollywood, CA, Santo Mortillaro Jr, Hubertus, WI, Kayte (Justin )Chesbrough, Jackson, Wi, Great Grandchildren, Hannah Jenkins, Will Sherwood Jenkins, Owen Chesbrough and Paisley Chesbrough.
Sherwood was born in Courtland,WI, he attended Randolph High School, where he was a standout basketball player and enlisted in the US Army after graduation. Sherwood fought in WWII under command of Gen George S. Patton landing on Anzio Beachhead. He fought in Italy, France, chased the Desert Fox across North Africa and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to the USA after the war and married his high school sweetheart, Ardis King. They ran Jenkins Café for over 20 years. Sherwood then went to work for California Canning Co as a field boss. After that he operated King’s Spa in Randolph for several years. After Ardis passed he spent time in Bar Harbor, ME, Sonoma, CA and Beaufort, SC with his family and friends.
Sherwood loved to hunt geese, ducks and crane and led a group of family and friends known as The Goose Busters on hunts around the USA. He was a phenomenal shot!
Sherwood will be best known and missed for his shenanigans. No one escaped his hi-jinx! Sherwood leaves us all with rich memories of fun and laughter.
On Sherwood’s request there will not be a funeral. Interment will be at The Randolph Cemetery to be with his loving wife, Ardis. A VFW Grave Side Ceremony will be held in Randolph on Sun August 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM
