Richard "Rick" Berndt

MARKESAN - Richard G. "Rick" Berndt, of Markesan, Wis., age 67, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Rick was born on March 12, 1948, at Ripon Hospital. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Markesan High School in 1966 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in art in 1970. He worked in various art positions in Chicago, Watertown, Madison, and Markesan. Rick will be remembered for his great storytelling and his love of the outdoors.

He is survived by his children, Sandra (Ben) Houseman of Madison, and Adam (Ame) Kaplan of Chicago; grandchildren, Joseph and Jack Houseman, Hannah and Marni Kaplan; and brother, Randall (Wendy) Berndt of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Julia Berndt; and brother, Rudy Berndt.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon at MARKESAN COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME 868 North Margaret Street, Markesan, Wisconsin.
