Marian Joyce Gysbers

Marian Joyce Gysbers, age 93, of Waupun, passed away at the Christian Home on Thursday, October 15, 2015, with family at her side.

Marian was born on February 9, 1922 at home in the town of Alto, Fond du Lac County, WI, the daughter of James and Mary (Schouten) Gysbers. Marian was a lifetime member of the Alto Reformed Church where she was active in various ministries over the years. She was employed at Alto Dairy for 45 years as a lab technician, where she made many lifetime friends. Marian was active in the community as a member of the Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years, a committee member for Klompenfest, and as a member of Kiwanis. She enjoyed golfing, and was a member of the Rock River Country Club. Marian loved to travel, enjoying several trips to Ecuador and the Caribbean. Marian was a dear aunt who generously gave of her time to bake bread and make jam for all her family. She enjoyed going out to eat and playing cards with friends, offering rides when needed. Marian loved flowers and growing vegetables.

Marian is survived by nieces and nephews, Phyllis and James Kuik, Brandon, Ronald and Joyce Kok, Randolph, Sharon Kok, Springfield, IL, Ann and Ron Mulder, Brandon, Rosemary and David Schuurman, Meridian, MS, and Judi and Bill Post, Brandon, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Gysbers, Markesan, numerous great nieces, nephews, their children and children’s children. She is also survived by many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, her sister, Joan and her husband Ted Kok, two brothers, Roger and Wilbert, a nephew, Arden Kok, and a great-great nephew Wyatt Kok.

A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 17, at Alto Reformed Church, N3697 Cty. Rd. EE, Waupun, officiated by Rev. Ted Medema. Burial will follow at the Alto Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service.
