James Jerome Slawny, 79, Randolph, died Friday May 22, 2015 peacefully in his home on Beaver Dam Lake.
James was born in Milwaukee, WI January 7, 1936 the son of Jerome and Alice Slawny. He married Marilyn Jesko on January 14, 1961 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee and was married to her up until she died January 16, 2006. He married Barbara Bahr on April 14, 2007 at Annunciation Catholic Parish Fox Lake until the day of his death.
James served proudly in the United States Air Force. James and Marilyn moved to Fox Lake in 1973 where they owned and operated Twin Shores Resort until 1984. He worked in many other fields including the United States Post Office, Citizen Publishing of Beaver Dam, and Ripon Community Printers. James was a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post 521, Fox Lake property owners, and the Annunciation Catholic Parish Fox Lake.
James will be remembered for the way he made soups and other meals for his family and friends. He will also be remembered for his interest in watching the birds outside his window and making sure the feeders were always full. He enjoyed watching old westerns, war movies, and the Food Network. James also enjoyed his weekly outings to The Dump Bar & Grill in Cambria.
Family was a very important part of James’ life and those left behind will greatly miss him. He was survived by his wife Barbara of Randolph; Children Eve-Lynn and Bruce Harned (Fox Lake), Gary and Anne Slawny (Beaver Dam), Granddaughters Haley (Dustin) Gordon, Cayla Harned, and Ashton “Midge” Harned , Great-Grandchildren Mikail “Mackie”, Skylar, Morgan “Boo”, Donavan, Regina, and Madelynn “Max”; Step-Children Stephen (Tonya) Bahr, David Bahr, John (Julie) Bahr; Brother Howard (Jeanie) Slawny, Brother Kenneth (Prudy) Slawny, Sister-in-Law Karen (Al) Tisdale; Many step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by; Marilyn Slawny (wife), Jerome and Alice Slawny (parents), Shirley Swosinski (sister), Greg Swosinski (nephew), Timothy Bahr (step-son).
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 W. Green St., Fox Lake. Visitation will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. to the time of the service.
