Cora Wiersma Hoffman, age 92 of Randolph, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Golden Living Center Continental Manor in Randolph.
Cora was born on December 4, 1922 in Redlands, California, a daughter of Joe and Nellie (Kloostra) Jansma. On April 3, 1941 she was united in marriage to John R. Wiersma, the father of her children, in East Friesland. On May 23, 1993 she was united in marriage to Jake Hoffman Sr. in Friesland. Cora was a member of the Friesland Reformed Church and was always a witness for the Lord to everyone by words and actions. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and singing. She was employed at Denise’s Café and enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Cora is survived by 4 children, Nancy Vande Streek, Robert G. (Karen) Wiersma, Harley W. Wiersma and his significant other, Karen and Carol “CJ” (Ryan) Akers; 1 daughter-in-law, Sandra Zielinski; 14 grandchildren, Dean (Gail) Vande Streek, Amy (André) Vanterpool, Steven (Terri) Wiersma, Wendi (Duane) Dykstra, Thomas (Kim) Wiersma, LaVonne (Scott) Mancheski, Phillip Wiersma, Amanda (Joe) Mertens, Brett Wiersma, Casey Wiersma, Brianna Bailies, Gavin (Kristen) Wiersma, Austin Akers and Conner Akers; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Emily (Norman) Froehlich; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Wiersma and Jake Hoffman Sr.; a son, Steven H. Wiersma; a son-in-law, Conrad Vande Streek; 2 sisters, Jennie (Jake) Vander Galien and Tena (George) Zuehls; a sister in infancy, Cora Jansma; 2 brothers, Herman (Angie) Jansma and Carl (Jane) Jansma.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Living Hope Community Church, 740 West State Street, Fox Lake, with Rev. Kenneth Prol officiating.
Cora’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at church. A committal service will take place at Friesland Cemetery at 9:00 A.M.
A memorial fund has been established in Cora’s Name.
The family wishes to thank everyone involved in hospice care and the GLC staff for their kindness and care shown to our mother and to our family.
