Allen Gordon Klumpers, age 90, of Waupun, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 28, 2015, while surrounded by his family at Golden Living Center - Continental Manor in Randolph, Wisconsin.
Allen was born on January 6, 1925, in Fond du Lac County, a son of Arthur and Kate (Looman) Klumpers. On April 3, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lucille (Broadway) Klumpers at the Alto Christian Reformed Church.
In Allen’s early years, he was called to active military duty where he served in the U.S. Army during the final stages of World War II. Allen was a skilled carpenter and worked for Visser Brothers professionally for many years. Allen continued his carpentry work with Westra Construction, Inc. until his retirement. Allen utilized his God-given talent outside of his professional employment and enjoyed working on his own carpentry projects in his spare time. Allen also loved to grow his garden, maintain the yard, play Rook and other card games with family and friends, read, and tell stories.
Allen’s wonderful faith in God was at the center of his life. After retirement, Allen and Lucille went on several mission trips to Mississippi, Kentucky, North Dakota, and New Mexico. Allen was most-recently a member of the Alto Reformed Church.
Allen battled with many bouts of cancer later in life until his death. While his body was severely weakened, his spirit and his faith remained strong. Even during his weakest times, Allen continued to be a witness of the Lord to many.
Allen is survived by his four children, Marla Ruis, Milaca, MN; Rosalie (Walter) Stiemsma, Randolph; Beth (Mark) Vossekuil, Brandon; Lee (Renee) Klumpers, Waupun, 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralland (Berdine) Klumpers, sister-in-laws Julene Mulder, Julia Broadway, and Pat Van Dyken; brother-in-law Lowell Bruins; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; infant daughter Linda Louise; son-in-law Al Ruis; infant great-granddaughter Riley Ash; sisters-in-law Hilda Vande Zande and Marjorie Bruins; brothers-in-law Roger Vande Zande, Gerald Mulder, Kenneth Broadway, and Al Van Dyken.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Alto Reformed Church, N3697 County Road EE, with Pastor Ted Lindman officiating. Burial will follow in the Alto Cemetery. Allen’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial gifts will be dedicated toward mission projects through the Alto Reformed Church.
