Evelyn Louise Wallendal, age 84 of Waupun, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born on January 5, 1930 in the town of Waupun, a daughter of Tienes and Henrietta (Bovenkamp) Vande Slunt. On September 21, 1949 she was united in marriage to C. James Wallendal at Alto Reformed Church. Evelyn was a member of the Rising Sun Grange Farming Organization, the Job’s Daughter Council and the Ladoga Area Homemakers club. She was a faithful member of the Waupun United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a loving mother to her own and many others, spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids brought her great joy. Evelyn was an avid cook and baker and was especially famous for her homemade cookies. She loved to watch birds. Ceramics, crochet and needlepoint were some of her many ways of showing love to others.

Evelyn is survived by three children; Barbara Ann Callies of Louisiana and her children; Michelle Callies of Louisiana, Trisha (Anthony) Meyer of South Dakota and Nicole (Leland) Froelke Fall River; Jerry (Leota) Wallendal of Waupun and their children; Jeremiah Wallendal, Vanessa (Al) Saylor, Matthew Wallendal (special friend Kala) and Patrick Wallendal all of Waupun; Penny (Terry) Wegner of Waupun and their children; Elizabeth Wegner (Fiancé Jeff) of Manitowoc and Jamie Wegner (special friend Mitchell) of Waupun; six great grandchildren; five siblings, Rose (Charles) Schouten of Waupun, Paul Vande Slunt of Brandon, Hilde (Lewis) Norton of North Fond du Lac, Donna (Donald) Bartelt of Illinois and Tienus (Pat) Vande Slunt of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents and her “second son” Dennis Fritz.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Waupun United Methodist Church, 199 East Jefferson Street, with Pastor JD McCarty and Jerry Wallendal officiating.

Evelyn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:30 to 7:30 P.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at church.

A memorial fund has been directed to the Heart Association/Kidney Cancer Foundation.
