Robert E. Steinfeldt
Robert Elwin Steinfeldt, age 92 of Fox Lake, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on January 16, 1922 in Port Edwards, Wisconsin, a son of Frederick and Irene (Rayome) Steinfeldt. On August 23, 1947, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Kuenn at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. In 1948 he graduated from UW Whitewater with his Bachelor degree and in 1959 he graduated from UW Madison with a Master’s Degree in Education. From 1943 to 1946 he served in the USNR in WWII as a Senior Lieutenant. Robert served as a principal of Fox Lake grade schools, high school and an administrative assistant for the Waupun School District from 1948 to 1984. His passion was gardening and fishing, and in his earlier years he enjoyed hunting. Robert was active in the community in the Kiwanis Club, American Legion and St. John’s Evangelical Church for many years.
Robert is survived by four children; two sons, Robert Steinfeldt of Iowa and Terry (Karla) Steinfeldt of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Sandra (Michael) Ehlers of Apopka, Florida and Sally (Brad) DeBoer of Fox Lake; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Steinfeldt of Texas; three sisters, Clarice Steinfeldt of Milwaukee, Doris Steinfeldt of Minnesota and Marilyn (John) Rehberg of Wisconsin Rapids; a sister-in-law, Laurel Kuenn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Steinfeldt; a grandson, Aaron DeBoer; a grandson-in-law, Manuel Prado and a sister-in-law, Margaret Steinfeldt.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Evangelical Church, 110 Edgelawn Drive, Fox Lake, with Pastor David Nottling officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.
Robert’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun and on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at church.
A memorial fund has been established in Robert’s Name to be decided at a later date.
