Gertrude Tamminga, age 95 of Friesland, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du lac, surrounded by family.

Gertrude was born on June 28, 1919 in Rinsumageest, Holland, a daughter of Nick and Jessie (Minnema) Vander Werff. On June 21, 1940 she married Jense Tamminga at First Reformed Church in Randolph. She was a wonderful cook, prayer warrior and a big part of everyone’s life. Gertrude was a faithful member of First Reformed Church, Friesland.

Gertrude is survived by daughter, Joyce Van Buren of Brandon and her three children Marcia (Brian) Hopp; Steve Van Buren and his daughter McKenna; Sarah Van Buren; Daughter Joan (Jim) Dykstra of Reeseville and their two children Joshua (Kristin) Dykstra son and daughter Julian and Laci; Jill Dykstra; Daughter June Tamminga of Cambria and her four children Holly Owen sons Nikolas and Brett; David Posthuma and son Teagan; Douglas (Sheila) Posthuma and daughter Portia; Derek Posthuma and sons Rylan and Liam.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, daughter Ruth Gail Tamminga, son-in-law Earl Van Buren, brother George (Charlotte) Vander Werff, sister Sadie (Ken) Zieman and nephew Steve Vander Werff.

A celebration of Gertrude’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at First Reformed Church, 107 E. Winnebago Street, Friesland with Rev. Rob Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Friesland Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

A memorial fund may be established to the First Reformed Church of Friesland or Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Home of Hope, 400 County Road K, Fond du lac, WI 54937.
