Dorothy De Haan

Dorothy De Haan, age 85 of Waupun, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Christian Home.
Dorothy was born on April 1, 1929 in Friesland, a daughter of Richard and Sarah (Alsum) Stiemsma. She married John De Haan on December 13, 1952 in East Friesland at the First Christian Reformed Church of Randolph. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, canning and tending to her flower gardens. She always loved spending time with family and especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of the First Reformed Church of Waupun.

Dorothy is survived by ten children, Robert (Carol) De Haan of Waupun; Selma (David) Klapper of Brandon; David (Lori) De Haan of Oakfield; Lori (Roy) Lemmenes of Waupun; Darlene (Dan) Coehoorn of Rosendale; Mary (Jon) Schmaltz of Waupun; Dorothy (John) Larson of Waupun; Joyce (Dave) Sturtz of Waupun; Dawn (Bruce) Niemuth of Fond du Lac; Lois De Haan of Waupun; thirty-two grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Ray (Judy) Stiemsma of Cambria; two sisters, Bernice (Henry) Streekstra of Florence, MT; Margaret Verhulst of Randolph; a sister-in-law, Helena Stiemsma of Friesland; a brother-in-law, James De Haan of Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John De Haan (2011); her son, John De Haan (2008) and her brother, Gerrit Stiemsma.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street, Waupun, Pastor Bob James officiating.
Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at church from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
