Ethel was born on September 29, 1917 in Courtland Township, the daughter of Andrew and Cora Linck. She graduated from Rust elementary school and Randolph High School. She was united in marriage to Gust Pomering on June 17, 1939 in the First Presbyterian Church of Cambria. For the first four years of marriage she and Gust lived in Genesee Depot , in a small house that Gust had built. In 1943 they bought Ethel's parent's farm in rural Randolph, and lived there for many years while raising their family. In later years they retired from farming, and sold the farm. They kept a couple of acres near the highway, where Gust built a new house for them. Ethel worked for Jung Seed Company for 25 years. She was a member of the Rustic Homemakers Club for 50 years. Ethel liked to "bake from scratch", make braided rugs, write poetry, do gardening, and grow flowers. She and Gust also enjoyed square dancing for many years. She often did volunteer work at the Randolph Continental Manor. Ethel was a longtime member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Randolph.

Ethel is survived by her three children, Dianne (Lyle) Halfman, Coloma, WI; Carolyn (Randy) Rosenberger, Iola, WI; Lloyd (Karen) Pomering, Oakfield, WI; four grandchildren, Mark, Shiloh, Eric, and Michael; and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gust, and her four brothers, Alfred, Clarence, Roy, and Leonard.
