Eugene Donald Henke, age 76 of Markesan, went to be with his Father in heaven on May 26, 2014, after a long battle with heart disease with his family surrounding him.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 31st at Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church, W3278 County Road K, Markesan, with Rev. Gary Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow in the Mackford Union Cemetery.
Eugene's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 30 at Markesan Community Funeral Home, 868 N. Margaret St., from 5 - 8 P.M. and on Saturday at the church from 9 A.M. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, Eugene's family suggest memorials be directed to American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society.
Eugene's family sends a special thank you to the Emergency Response Team for their prompt, compassionate care.

Eugene was born on February 8, 1938, in Green Lake County, a son of John and Elsie (Meyer) Henke. He graduated from Markesan High School in 1955. Eugene was a lifelong area farmer, retiring in 2001. He married Lois Roll on August 30, 1958 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Horicon. As a young boy, Eugene joined 4H and was involved for over 50 years. He was active in the Markesan area as a Town of Mackford board member for over 30 years where he was a past chairman. He also served on the Green Lake County Board. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. Eugene attended Terrace Shores Evangelical Church.
Eugene is survived by Lois, his wife of 55 years, three children: Dale Henke, Markesan, Beth (Barry) Zabel, Ripon and David Henke, Markesan, four grandchildren: Winston Henke, Jordan Henke, Kyle (Elise) Zabel and Casey Zabel and fiancé Bryce Mikkelson, a special family friend, Stephanie Walker and one sister, Lois Sammons, Chicago, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Alyse Zabel, three brothers: Marvin, Walter and Arden Henke, and three sisters: Florence Hutter, Lorraine Heitmann, and Arloene Hutter.
