Richard Eugene Anderson, age 78, of Waupun received his eternal reward on May 17, 2014.
Richard was born to Albert and Wilhelmina (Schoellig) Anderson on July 2, 1935, in Hickory Grove Township, Grant County, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Boscobel High School and Madison Business College, and served in the Air National Guard for 7 years. Dick was united in marriage to Sharon Buchholz on June 17, 1962 in Montello, Wisconsin
During his 40 year career with Del Monte Foods, he held several accounting positions in Markesan, WI; Rochelle, IL; and Sleepy Eye, MN. He willingly served in various capacities in his various church congregations as a council member, Sunday School teacher, and Bible study leader.
Music was an important part of Dick's life from an early age. He enjoyed being a church choir member and director and was active as a barbershopper for many years, singing baritone in several quartets, including the Royaltones.
Following his retirement in 1995, Dick became a volunteer driver for Dodge County Human Services for 17 years and also volunteered as a tax preparer for seniors. He was an active Gideon, participating in their various activities and serving as an officer and speaker frequently.
Dick is survived by his wife, Sharon, of nearly 52 years, his daughter Karen (Jeff) Lippert of Sussex, WI, his son Douglas of Moorhead, MN, two granddaughters: Rachel Lippert of Phoenix, AZ and Sarah Lippert (fiancé Brandon Roos) of Muncie, IN, his older brother Virgil and nephew David Anderson of Boscobel, WI. Preceding him in death were his infant son Mark, his parents, his parents-in-law (William and Leona Buchholz) and his sister-in-law, Millicent Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 23, 2014, at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison Street, Waupun, with Rev. Michael Stock officiating. Burial will follow in the Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
Dick’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6 – 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun, and at the church on Friday from 10:00 until the hour of service.
Memorials may be made to Pella Lutheran Church, the Gideons, or the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
