Steven Williams, age 58 of Lomira, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
Steven was born on July 21, 1955 in Madison, WI, a son of Fred and Virginia Williams of Oakfield. In 1974 he graduated from Oakfield High School and later graduated from Moraine Park Technical College under Automotive Technician, Maintenance Mechanics and Civil Engineering programs. He held numerous jobs in those fields throughout his career. Steve was a certified Arborist working with his brothers in tree care. His passion was “Paws to Read” through Healing Paws with Taz, his certified therapy dog. Working with children and the dog to provide greater reading skills at libraries, and schools throughout the area. He also went to numerous hospitals and nursing homes to comfort people with his therapy dog. He was a member of Healing Paws, past secretary. He was married June 28, 1984 to Janet (Fuhrman) Williams, she preceded him in death April 4, 1993. On June 25, 1998, he married Barbara (Smith) Williams.
Steven is survived by his wife Barbara of Lomira, one daughter Stephanie Williams and her fiancé Zachary Wonser of Fond du Lac, his mother Virginia Williams of Oakfield, 3 brothers Peter Williams of Oakfield, Mark Williams of Oakfield, David Williams of Oakfield, 3 sisters Lynne (Tom) Kryger of Itasca, IL, Jennifer (Wayne) Schmid of Saint Robert, MO, and Julie Williams of Evergreen Park, IL. Brothers-in-law Ed (Linda) Smith of Oakfield and Bruce (Linda) Smith of Sterling, IL.
Steven was preceded in death by his wife Janet, his father Fred Williams, Father-in-law Harold Smith, Father and Mother-in-law Gordon and Beverly Fuhrman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Oakfield United Methodist Church, 220 South Main Street Oakfield, with Pastor Jim Droste. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Byron.
Steven’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Sunday, April 13, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund is being established to the Healing Paws Organization of Fond du Lac, WI.
