Franklin Peter Soodsma

Franklin Peter Soodsma, 62 of Randolph, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Randolph Protestant Church, 229 Hammond Street, Randolph, with Rev. Erik Guichelaar officiating. Burial will be in Friesland Cemetery.

Frank's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday, from 9 A.M. until the hour of service.

Frank was born on April 27, 1951, the son of Gerritt (Jeanette) Soodsma. Frank married Betty Schaalma on August 31, 1974, at the Randolph Protestant Reformed Church. He enjoyed working on the family farm and for 25 years he worked for Westra Construction. Frank loved spending time with the family.

Frank is survived by Betty, his wife of 39 years; his son Kyle Soodsma and his daughter Tammy Soodsma, both of Randolph. Two brothers: Jacob (Rena Mae) Soodsma and Seymour Soodsma ;three sisters: Susan (Jacob) Regnerus, Janice (Richard) Regnerus, both of Randolph, and Patricia (Steven) Van Dyke of Hustonville, MI; his mother-in-law Dorothy Schaalma, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law John Schaalma; and his infant son Lucas John.
