Clifford Syens, age 89 of Randolph, went home to his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013.
Cliff was born on September 27, 1924 in Randolph, Wisconsin, a son of Lambert and Ella (Smits) Syens. On May 28, 1948, he was united in marriage to Gladys Elgersma in Waupun. Cliff worked at National Rivet in Waupun, and during that time, he also enjoyed running his hobby farm in Friesland. He then worked at the Randolph High School. Cliff ended his working career at Chrysler Marine in Beaver Dam.
He was a very family oriented and an outgoing man that could strike up conversation with just about anyone. Cliff enjoyed cooking and was the family handyman. He attended the sporting events of his children and grandchildren with great pride. He was very proud of and known for his vegetable and rose gardens and loved to share his bounty with family and friends.
Cliff is survived by Gladys, his wife of 65 years; his children Robert Syens, Orlando FL; Leslie Syens; James C. (Debra) Syens of Randolph; Nancy (Terry) Godfrey of Madison; Richard (Tracy) Syens of Libertyville, IL; Candice (Randy) Miller of Richfield; 10 grandchildren, Matt (Annie), Angie (Steve), Claire, Sarah, Adrian, Hayleigh, Noah, Hunter, Brent, Lexi; and 3 great-grandchildren, Will, Piper and Asher. He is also survived and greatly missed by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, brother Peter (Evelyn) Syens; sister Sadie (Leo) DeBoer and a brother in infancy.
A Celebration of Clifford’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the First Reformed Church, 406 South High Street, Randolph. Burial will take place in the Randolph Cemetery with Randolph VFW Post 9510 presenting honors.
Cliff’s family will receive relatives and friends at the First Reformed Church on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 3-6 P.M. and on Monday at church from 10 until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be established in Clifford’s name.
