Hazel Joyce Vollbrecht-Schulz, age 88 of Brandon, died on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 107 S. Prairie St, Brandon. Burial will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.
Hazel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wed. Dec. 11 from 4 – 9 P.M. at the Vollbrecht residence at W12232 County Road T, Brandon, and at the church on Thursday beginning at 9 A.M. until the hour of service.
Hazel was born on September 17, 1925 in Brandon, a daughter to George and Allie (Redeker) Wellhouse. Following her education, Hazel was employed at the Ideal Shoe Factory. She also worked at Joanne’s Photo Service and Damsteegt Studios. On August 24, 1948, Hazel was united in marriage to Carlyle Vollbrecht. For over 40 years, the couple operated their photography business, Carlyle’s Studios, in Brandon. She was preceded in death by Carlyle, who died in 1992. Hazel married Ken Schulz in 2002.
Hazel enjoyed baking, especially during the holiday season when she made her cookies and candy. Hazel was a charter member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon. For many years, she was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Brandon, where she was active in the Ladies Aide. Hazel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 52 years.
Hazel is survived by her three children: Richard (Judy) Vollbrecht, Brandon, Diane (Ronald) Otto, Ripon, Mark (Sandy) Vollbrecht, Howards Grove, and her step-son, Tim (Elaine) Schulz. She is further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grand, step-grandchildren, one brother, Lawrence, (Janice) Wellhouse, Fairwater, three sisters-in-law, Laverne Kok, Brandon, Shirley Vollbrecht, Milwaukee, and Ruby Vollbrecht, Ripon, a brother-in-law, Alfred Radke, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Carlyle Vollbrecht, her second husband, Kenneth Schulz, two grandsons, Bradley Vollbrecht and Scott Soyk, a granddaughter, Tracy Vollbrecht, a brother, Wallace Wellhouse, and a sister, Ardis Bruins.
