Arnold was born on October 28, 1921 in Elkhorn, WI, son of Charles and Ada (Gevers) Dorn. He graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1939 where he participated in many activities and sports. He loved football going back to those days, and was always ready to discuss the Green Bay Packers team, even into his final days.
After graduating from high school and trying his hand at various occupations, Arnold eventually took over his father’s dairy farm in rural Elkhorn, WI. On May 29, 1948, Arnold married Beatrice Grundmann, a school teacher, who then helped him run the farm. In 1962, they bought a larger dairy farm near Hartford, WI and managed that farm until he retired. After that, he raised goats and poultry in rural Mayville. In 1998, Arnold and Bea moved to Sulphur Springs, TX, occasionally assisting their sons Carl and Fred with their dairy farm. In 2005, Arnold and Bea moved permanently back to Waupun, WI, where they were members of Pella Lutheran Church. Throughout the years, Arnold was active on the church council at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford, WI; the school board at Herman Grade School, Mayville, WI, the Herman 4-H club, NFO, AAL (Thrivent), and other organizations.
Arnold is survived by five children, Carl (JoAnn) Dorn, Dahlonega, GA; Edna (Robert) Noldan, Randolph, WI; Frederick Dorn, Hartford, WI; Gregory (Lori) Dorn, Madison, WI; Harvey (Kathy) Dorn, Johnson Creek, WI; a sister-in-law, Doris Eistedt, Elkhorn, WI; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
