Elena Geraldine Vree age 80 of Randolph, died on August 12, 2013 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 at Living Hope Community Church, 740 W State St., Fox Lake, with Pastor Justin Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Elena’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, August 16 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 S High Street, Randolph; and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund has been established for the Randolph Christian School, 457 2nd St. Randolph, WI 53956.
Elena was born on September 23, 1932 in Green Lake County, the daughter of Walter and Grace (Westra) Tamminga. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1950 and obtained her teaching certificate in Chicago. While teaching at Roseland Christian School, Elena met Donald Vree and they were married on October 18, 1952 in Randolph. She devoted herself to be a loving wife and devoted mother. Elena taught at the Randolph Christian School for a year, then was employed part-time at the Randolph Advance. After the Advance office closed, Elena worked at the Blochwitz Agency. Elena loved traveling, shopping and antiques. She was an avid collector of Department 56. Going out to eat, especially for ice cream was a favorite pastime. Elena enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a founding member of Living Hope Church in Fox Lake.
Elena is survived by four of her children: Ruth Vree, John Vree (Kim O’Malley) significant other, Jay (Sherry) Vree, all of Randolph, and Jerel “Jerry” Vree, Waupun; twelve grandchildren: Kenda Schwarz, Ross Eisenga, Kimberly (Justin) Parks, John Casey, Keanu Moss, Jeffrey (Abigail) Vree, Bradley (Lindsay) Vree, Douglas Vree (Cassie Schears) significant other, Mitchell Vree (Becca Smits) significant other, Michael, Tyler, and Ashley Vree, ten great-grandchildren, one sister, Joyce (Bob) Goetz, Austin, MN, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Vree, LaVerne Van Drunen, and Roger (Laurie) Vree, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, a son James, sister Estelle Eizenga, and two brothers-in-law Robert Vree and John Van Drunen.
