Harold W Budde

Harold Willard Budde, 91, formerly of Waupun, died June 1, 2013 at the Remembrance Home in Beaver Dam, WI.

A Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main Street, Waupun with Rev. Rolf Amundsen officiating. Harold’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 5 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Forest Mound Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard of Waupun.

Harold was born on June 14, 1921 in Columbia County, the son of Fred and Helen (Witthun) Budde. He was married on Nov. 18, 1949 to Violet Iola Ball Nee Soper. She preceded him in death Sept. 13, 1982. The couple owned and operated Budde Studio in Waupun for sometime. Harold also worked for many years at National Rivet where he was a foreman. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, working in his garden, traveling and going out to eat with his wife. He was very proud of having served his country in WWII; landing on Omaha Beach as a 50 cal. machine gunner, the Hedgerow Battles of Normandy the Liberation of Paris, The Battle of the Bulge, the worst experience of the war. Next, the Battle of Remagen Bridge, and finally the Liberation of Pilsen, He went to Japan and then returned home to start a new life with Vi. May 7, 1945 was V.E. day ending 217 consecutive days of combat. Harold was a life member of the VFW Post 6709 and American Legion Post 210 in Waupun. Harold was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun.

Harold is survived by a stepson, Dennis Ball and his wife Donna of Wautoma, a special friend Jan Ball of Seattle, WA, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
