Eric Sam Huizenga, 83 of Randolph, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at United Methodist Church, 227 N. High Street, Randolph with Rev. Young Choe officiating. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Eric’s name.
Eric was born on March 20, 1930 in Sheboygan, WI, a son of Neal and Jennie (Vander Galien) Huizenga. Eric was united in marriage to Lois Umbreit on March 3, 1951 in the Randolph United Methodist Church. Later in the year, he entered into service with the U.S. Army. He was employed at Rockwell International in Randolph where he graded lumber for many years until they closed. Eric was then employed locally with various local companies over the years including Hughes Trucking, Kraft Foods, Sears, and at Columbus Products, now known as Enerpac. He also was a job coach for the State of Wisconsin, working with youth. Eric had many friends with whom he enjoyed riding motorcycle, going on fishing trips to Canada, and hunting. He was soft-hearted and generous man, helping many in their time of need. Eric enjoyed traveling and gardening.
He was a longtime, supportive member of the Randolph United Methodist Church.
Eric is survived by Lois, his wife of 62 years, his sister-in-law, Annette Umbreit, Randolph, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Lynn in 1997, three sisters, two brothers, brother-in-law, Lyle Umbreit, a nephew, Mark Maaske, and a niece, Laurie Huizenga
