Charlotte was born November 2, 1923 in Waupaca, WI, daughter of Howard L. and Ella (Anderson) Christianson. She lived in Saxeville, WI, where she went to grade school. The family moved to Waupun where she graduated from Waupun High School in 1941.

Charlotte worked at National Rivet Manufacturing in Waupun during World War II. She married Floyd A. Schmidt on December 1, 1945 and moved to Manitowoc. In 1947 she and her husband moved to Horicon where they operated “Schmidt’s Meat Market” until 1953 when they relocated to Markesan operating “Schmidt’s Red Bell Market”. She was always the smiling face that helped with the family grocery store. Charlotte and her family moved back to Waupun in April of 1968, and she was employed at the Christian Home for two years. She volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Shop in Horicon for over 30 years as well as the Country Fair Rummage Sale, at the Dodge County Fair Grounds in September every year.

Charlotte was a member of Pella Lutheran Church and the Ladies club, attended Bible classes and was a former Choir member. She was also a life time member of American Legion Auxiliary Post of Markesan. Many people may remember her as an election poll worker for the city of Waupun. She loved to go to the various stores in Waupun and just visit with everyone she met. Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and her great-grandsons.

Charlotte is survived by her son Terrence L. Schmidt and wife Linda (Fenske), of Necedah, three grand-daughters: Trisha (Ronnie) Yoss, of Sun Prairie, Tanya (Jason) Hatch, of Madison and Tiffany Schmidt of Waupun, four great-grandsons: Kaleb and Logan Yoss, Evan and Jalen Hatch, as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, an infant brother and her parents.
