Evelyn “Aunt” M. Ruenger
Evelyn Maude Ruenger, age 97 of Waupun, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living where she had resided the past three months.
A Celebration Service of Evelyn’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at United Methodist Church, 199 East Jefferson St. Waupun, with Rev. J.D. McCarty officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.
Evelyn’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
Memorials in Evelyn’s name may be designated for Agnesian Hospice Hope of Fond du Lac, WI.
Evelyn was born on January 28, 1916 in the Town of Fox Lake, a daughter of William and Belle (Learned) Ruenger. She attended local schools, graduating from Waupun High School in 1934. For 45 years Evelyn was employed by National Rivet Manufacturing in Waupun. She was a lifelong area resident, and until recently lived independently. As a lifelong member of the Waupun United Methodist Church, Evelyn helped assemble the church’s newsletter, The Circuit Rider, belonged to the Women’s Circle, and served on various committees. She also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed family gatherings, going out to eat, and traveling with friends.
Evelyn was a beloved sister and aunt who is survived by her brother, Rolland (Geraldine) Ruenger, Waupun, nieces and nephews: Janice (Ken) Kamphuis, Karen (Dan) Sauer, Marty (Vicki) Houdek, Gail (Robert) Powell, Bill (Sandy) Ruenger, Russ (Fadra) Ruenger, Mark (Barb) Ruenger, and numerous great nieces and nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Carrie Vande Zande and June (Arthur) Houdek, and a brother Ernest.
