Jennie Holwerda

Jennie Holwerda, age 92 of Randolph, was taken home by her Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor in Randolph.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph officiated by Rev. Karl Bratt. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.

Jennie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials will be designated in Jennie’s name to the Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack St. Randolph, WI 53956 and the Randolph Christian School, 457 Second St. Randolph WI 53956.

Jennie was born on November 7, 1920 in the Netherlands, the youngest of twelve children of Jenne and Jantje (Meinsma) Dekema. On May 12, 1941, she was united in marriage to Sam Holwerda. They immigrated to America with their three daughters in 1948, and settled in the Randolph area, adding three sons to their family. Jennie lived out her dream of being a farmer’s wife, dedicating her life to her husband and children. Jennie spent many hours knitting and crocheting afghans and other gifts for friends, children, and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Second Christian Reformed Church of Randolph and enjoyed belonging to the Ladies Society.

Jennie is survived by three daughters: Jane (Floyd) Helmholdt, Byron Center, MI, Helen (Warren) MacKellar, Hurst, TX, Jean (Bruce) Braaksma, Friesland, WI, three sons: Bruce (Carol) Holwerda, Auburn, IN, James (Cindy) Holwerda, Stanley (Wendy) Holwerda, both of Randolph, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sam in 1988, twin great-granddaughters, four brothers and six sisters in the Netherlands, one sister in Canada.
