Gerald Mulder, 89 of Waupun, entered Eternal Life on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home with family at his side.
A Celebration Service of Gerald’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 410 S West Street, Waupun, with Rev. Jeff Brower officiating. Burial will follow in Alto Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard.
Gerald’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 18 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W Main St. Waupun, and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established for Central WI Christian School.
Gerald was born on May 24, 1923 in the Town of Alto, a son to Bert and Bertha (Wiltjer) Mulder. He attended Madison Country School and helped his father on the family farm. Gerald entered into service with the U.S. Army during World War II and served from 1943 – 1946. On July 18, 1946, Gerald was united in marriage to Julene Broadway at Alto Christian Reformed Church. With a passion for farming, Gerald owned and operated farms in the Brandon and Waupun area, moving to the City of Waupun in 1980. Gerald was a hard-working dedicated family man who enjoyed family gatherings, playing Rook with siblings, and giving combine rides to his grandchildren. For the past several years Gerald enjoyed attending VFW Post 6709 meetings where he was a member. He was honored to be selected for the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2009 and to be named 2012 Veteran of the Year. Gerald was a longtime member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church. His strong faith and love for family will be a treasured heritage for many generations.
Gerald is survived by Julene, his wife of 66 years, six children: Ronald (Ann) Mulder, Larry (Gloria) Mulder, both of Brandon, Byron (Donna) Mulder, Fond du Lac, Wayne (Rhonda) Mulder, Waupun, Mary (Kevin) Baerwald, Theresa, Robert (Michelle) Mulder, Waupun, 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, his brother, Bernard (Beverly) Mulder, Waupun/Florida, brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey Flier, Wally Neevel, Pat Van Dyken, Lowell Bruins, Allen Klumpers, Leona Vande Zande, Julia Broadway, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters: Catherine Derksen, Clara Mae Flier, and Helen Neevel, brothers and sisters-in-law: Warren Derksen, Hilda and Roger Vande Zande, Al Van Dyken, Lucille Klumpers, Ken Broadway, and Marge Bruins.
Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun is serving the family.
