Connie F. Smedema

Connie Florence Smedema, age 80 of Randolph, died on February 26, 2013 at Winter Haven Hospital while spending the winter with her family in Winter Haven, FL.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack St., Randolph with Rev. Karl Bratt officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit the family on Saturday at the church beginning at 10 AM until the time of service.

Bonnie was born on March 16, 1932 in Dodge County, WI, the daughter of Peter and Jesse (Kok) Vanderson. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1949.

On July 18, 1950, Connie was united in marriage to John L. Smedema at the First Christian Reformed Church of Randolph. Connie was employed for 30 years at Stone’s Tall Shop in Madison. She was a longtime member of Second Christian Reformed Church of Randolph.

Connie is survived by her son, Randy (Kathy) Smedema, Friesland, her daughter, Candy (Harlyn) Buwalda, Randolph//Florida; six grandchildren, Mike (Amanda) Smedema, Christa (Jon) Hellenbrand, John R. (Jenny) Smedema, Jaime (Peter) Woreck, Peter Buwalda, and Amber (Ryan) Alvin; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Jo Vermeer, Sheldon, IA, a sister-in-law, Lucy (Gordon) Braaksma, Friesland and a brother-in-law, Jim Smedema, Gulf Port, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, parents; parents-in-law, Louis and Alice Smedema; her son, Dale James Smedema, and a great-granddaughter, Jessie Lea Woreck.
