Betty Loechelt, age 82 of Fairwater, died on Feb. 13, 2013 at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater with Pastor Rick Engen officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Fairwater Cemetery.
Betty was born July 22, 1930 in Oshkosh, WI, the sixth child of seven children to Conrad and Mary (Paffenroth) Benner. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, and attended Oshkosh High School. On October 7, 1950 she married William Loechelt Jr. in Oshkosh; then moved to a farm in Fairwater.
She had many hobbies: sewing, knitting, painting, working in her yard and flower garden. She was a member of the Fairwater Historical Society and served on the board for many years. She was employed at P.M.I. in Markesan for 17 years. Following her retirement, she took the custodian job at Zion Lutheran Church for 15 years, where she was a faithful member.
Betty is survived by one son, Terry (Leora) Loechelt of Fairwater, two daughters: Kris (Pete) VanBuskirk – Pauer, Glenbeulah, and Cheryl Loechelt of Manlius, NY, five grandchildren: Joe VanBuskirk, Jessie (Mark) Schultz, Angela Loechelt, Andrew (Sara) Scharschmidt, and Dylan Cheely, one great –grandson, Preston Schultz, three sisters: Jane Kaufmann, Lorraine Freiberg, and Mary Ann (Edward) Jungwirth, all of Oshkosh, a sister-in-law, Joanne Benner of Oldsmar, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, parents, a brother, Milton Benner, and two sisters: Helen Kinderman and Alice Eichman.
