Walter Macheel

“Wally” Edward Macheel, age 89, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013. Wally was born July 19, 1923 and resided on the Macheel Farm rural Randolph, WI.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 30th, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 110 Edgelawn Dr. Fox Lake, WI. Burial will be in the Cambria Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 29th and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to time of service.

Wally was born July 19, 1923 and resided on the Macheel Farm rural Randolph, WI. In 1935, Wally age 12, parents and siblings moved to a dairy farm near Manchester. He returned to the Macheel Farm after his 1945 marriage to Violet Albrecht.
Wally’s ancestors immigrated in 1843 from Omen, Prussia (Germany) on the Brig Edward, a sailing ship. They homesteaded in Lebanon before WI became state in 1848. They survived the first winter in the wilderness with the Native Americans helpfulness of food and shelter.
Wally often said in his teen years, his plans for the future was to own several farms. He was not an old-fashioned farmer. He readily embraced change and constantly looked to improve farming operations with the latest ideas, technology and equipment.
Wally had a big smile for everyone and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He traveled to Europe, Africa, Mexico, Japan and Hawaii. He visited relatives and friends in FL, hunted in WY and fished in Canada. He enjoyed boating, skiing, snowmobiling and square dancing. He sponsored a softball team for thirty plus years. For many years he was a member of the Fox Lake Golf Club and Beaver Dam senior bowling league. He supported Randolph student athletes and contributed to a scholarship in his wife’s name. Later on in life, he enjoyed touring his farms in his ranger with Star, his beloved dog. He was also very proud of his family’s accomplishments, especially his Macheel Farm shop.

Survivors include two sons; Kenneth (Maxine McHugh) Macheel, Dale (Perle Smit) Macheel, daughter Linda (Marc) Lindquist. He is survived by seven grandchildren; Jeffrey Macheel (fiancé Heather Bannister), Stacy (Fred) Seaman, Jonathan (Jessica Gruening) Macheel, Kevin and Kelly Macheel, Alexandrea and Nicole Lindquist; six great grandchildren; Collin, Ethan, Layna and Emma Macheel, Katelyn and Violet Seaman. Wally is also survived by a foster daughter Delores (Frey) Albrecht, sister-in-law Phyllis (Albrecht) & (George) Tincher, a brother Ewald “Fritz” Macheel and sister Marie (Macheel) Worzala.

Wally was preceded in death by his wife Violet (Albrecht) Macheel age 74, 2000, a son David Bruce age 19 months, 1947, parents Reinhart “Irish” age 92, 1983 & Hilda (Witt) Macheel age 96, 1995, brother Hubert age 66, 1987, parents-in-law Bruno age 78, 1979 & Alma (Schroeder) Albrecht age 87, 1990, brother-in-law Leonard Worzala age 74, 2000 and Howard Albrecht age 79, 2010.
