Floyd Ernest Wuerch, age 83, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Manchester, died on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Golden Living Center – Continental Manor in Randolph where he has resided for much of the past year.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, W3377 Main Street, Manchester, WI, with Rev. Michael Plagenz officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the church from 4 – 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Floyd’s name.
Floyd was born on March 21, 1929 in Manchester, the son of Ernest and Elsie (Bahr) Wuerch. On March 31, 1950, he was united in marriage to Janet Evers at the First Reformed Church in Randolph. They managed their Manchester farm for many years, and he also worked as a milk hauler. Not one to sit still, Floyd was employed with the Green Lake County Highway Department for 25 years. He retired to the city of Beaver Dam and was a courier for the Daily Citizen. He enjoyed mowing lawn for Del Monte in Markesan. Floyd was a longtime member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manchester, where he formerly served on church council. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing cards with relatives and friends. Floyd loved to travel with his children to visit family and enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Floyd is survived by two sons: Ron (Eileen) Wuerch, Markesan, and Roger (Marie) Wuerch, Friesland, one daughter, Carol (Robert) Schmidt, Thornton, CO, eleven grandchildren: Lisa (Brent) Burdick, Tammie (Joseph) Emery, Trisha (Jason) Festerling, Kristi (Casey) Zurbuchen, Jessica, Janette, James and Jill Schmidt, Sara, Justin, and Kayla Wuerch, ten great-grandchildren: Grace and Cole Burdick, Christian, Ethan, Mycajah and Brinton Emery, Madelynn, Teagan, and Tenley Festerling, Zayne Zurbuchen. Also surviving is his sister, Irma Bernhagen, Markesan, brothers and sisters-in-law: John (Jane) Evers, Fran (Harold) DeVries, Margaret Rahn, Rena Evers, Ormond Vining, and Wayne Rahn, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife Janet in 2002, and brothers and sisters-in-law, William Bernhagen, Dena Vining, Ed Evers, Thomas (Joyce) Evers, William (Louise) Evers, Minnie Rahn, Anna (Marvin) Pahl, Katherine (Loren) Pahl, and Elwood “Joe” Rahn.
