Markesan- Nancy Marie Halverson, age 71, of Markesan and formally of Milwaukee died on December 4, 2012 at the Markesan Residential Home in Markesan, surrounded by her family.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Markesan Memorial Park, Town of Manchester, Green Lake County, WI.

Nancy was born on March 6, 1941 in Milwaukee, the daughter of George R. and Elizabeth Ann (Sheahan) Whelan. She attended Holy Rosary Grade School and graduated with honors from St. Joan Antida High School in 1959. Nancy had a loving nature and was a tender caregiver to her family and the residents of the Markesan Residential home where she was employed. She never wanted others to worry about her, even during her recent illness. Always maintaining an upbeat attitude, she faced her rough times with a smile. Besides loving her family, Nancy was a fan of Robert Pattison, the actor from Twilight. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her five children; Cheri (Leslie) Ortiz, Markesan, Arletta Rowley, Ohio, Richard Whelan, Indiana, Elbert Rowley, Jr. Tennessee, and Earl Rowley, Watertown. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren plus one expected next year, two sisters; Bonnie (Doreen Long) Whelan, Hartford, Conn., Sheila (William) Bagin, Milwaukee, a brother, Terrance (Carol) Whelan, Glendale, AZ and a nephew, Shane Bagin, Milwaukee, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, and Elbert Rowley, her ex-husband and dear friend.
A memorial fund has been established in Nancy’s name.
Nancy’s family thanks the nursing staff of the Markesan Home for the wonderful care they provided to her, and the other departments for their treatment and special favors.
