Hubert Raymond, age 80 of Markesan, died on Thursday, November 1st at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, surrounded by family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 W Green Street, Fox Lake, WI with Rev. Michael Wild officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery in the town of Fox Lake.
Ray’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday at the church beginning at 9:30 until the hour of service.
Ray was born on May 8, 1932, a son of Hubert and Leona (Tetzlaff) Raymond. Ray was orphaned as a young boy, and raised by extended family members throughout Wisconsin. As a young man he was employed by M & M Foundry in Waupun for over ten years. He also worked for different farmers as a hired hand. On June 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Docter. In 1963, Ray began working at the Fox Lake Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. While working at the prison he finished his education and became a teacher at the facility, retiring in 1991. Ray’s family was the priority in his life, and they had many activities together: going out on their homemade pontoon boat, hunting, fishing, and running a paper route for thirty years. He was a longtime member of Annunciation Catholic Church
Ray is survived by five children; Phyllis (Glenn) Bille, Token Creek, WI, Cathy (Tony) Bernath, Ripon, Hubert “Buck” (Amy) Raymond, Ripon, Mary Jo Raymond, Waupun, and Todd (Lisa) Raymond, MS, fifteen grandchildren, Johnette (Randy) Grams, Bob (Jen) Jacobs, Dawn Hopfensperger, Travis (Jamie) Bernath, Angie Bernath, Dan (Jennifer) Sheahan, Joe (Beth) Raymond, Tony (Christa) Raymond, Vicky (Jacob) Baillies, Ranea Salkowski, Martin Salkowski III, Kirstin Salkowski, Kyle Raymond, Brianna Raymond, and Justin Nally, 18 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers; Richard (Shirley) Raymond, Salsbury, NC, and Robert (Nancy) Raymond, Fox Lake, four sisters; Betty Raymond, Markesan, Ellen (John) Winters, Waupaca, Kathy (Michael) Debehnke, and Connie (Paul) Drexler, both of Oshkosh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons; Mark and Brian Raymond, two brothers; Jerry Raymond and Roland Bates, and a sister, Barb Johnson.
