Elmer August Hammann, age 81 of Waupun, went to his eternal home on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Christian Home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison St. Waupun, with Rev. Michael Stock officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Elmer’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 – 8 PM on Thursday at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 W. Main St.Waupun, and on Friday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service.
Memorials in Elmer’s name may be directed to Pella Lutheran Church or the Christian Home, 331 Bly Street, Waupun WI 53963.
Elmer’s family would like to thank the caring staff of the Christian Home for all their special care and acts of kindness.
Elmer was born on March 30, 1930in the Town of Burnett, Dodge County, WI, a son of Edgar and Cora (Dommann) Hammann. He was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in North Burnett. Elmer graduated from Horicon High School with the class of 1947. On May 9, 1953, he was united in marriage to June Lepple at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He was employed with National Rivet and Manufacturing Co. for forty years, first as an inspector and later as a supervisor, and belonged to the I.A.M. Local 1516. Elmer was a kind, gentle man; a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening and was especially fond of and known for his roses. Elmer and June enjoyed polka dancing, playing sheepshead, and taking bus trips. He was a member of Pella Lutheran Church for over 50 years, where he formerly served as an Elder and a member of the finance committee.
Elmer is survived by June, his wife of 58 years, two sons; Dale Hammann and his wife Ann of Horicon, and Timothy Hammann and his wife Tami of Waupun, four grandchildren, Melissa Hammann and her special friend Frank Morales, Corey Hammann and his special friend Hilary Mueller, Tara Hammann and John Hammann, his sister, Esther Stensaas, his brother, Edward (Lorraine) Hammann, both of Juneau, two sisters-in-law; Lillian Paul of Beaver Dam and Lillian Lepple of Juneau, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers; Harold and Harland Hammann, brothers and sisters-in-law, William Stensaas, Walter and Bernice Rosing, William and Elizabeth “Betty” Lepple, Robert Lepple and his first wife Arlene, Eugene and Dorothy Kienast, and a nephew, John Lepple.
Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun is serving the family.
