Dorothy Louise Leberak, age 97 and long-time resident of Waupun, passed away on Saturday, February 11th, 2012at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, where she had resided for the past two years.
A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at 11 A.M.on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S Madison St, Waupun, with Rev. Michael Stock officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden.
Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M.until the time of service.
Dorothy was born on April 13, 1914 in Glencoa, OK, the eighth of ten children born to Edward and Mary Beeman Baggett. Five years later, this close-knit family moved to Kansas, where Dorothy graduated from high school in 1932. She traveled to Wisconsinto help her older sister with the birth of her baby. Dorothy decided to make Wisconsin her home working locally as a maid. On June 19th, 1937, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eldridge Leberak, in Waupun. Eldridge was part owner of a local business, called the Powder Puff which was a filling station and furnace repair service. Dorothy worked at the business part-time by helping with the bookkeeping. She dedicated herself to her family and after her children were grown, she worked at the shoe factory and later Sand Knit, retiring at the age of 70. Dorothy had an incredibly creative and witty mind, which fueled her passion for her many talents. She was an excellent cook and loved to read, sew, paint, garden, quilt, knit and cross-stitch. Dorothy was also very social; enjoying the company of a great number of friends and especially her family. She was a long-time member of Pella Lutheran church and was active with the women's ministries. Dorothy left a beautiful legacy of faith and Godliness for her family and countless others.
Dorothy is survived by her son Robert (Rogene) Leberak, Manitowoc, her very special friend and long-time caregiver, Marsha Leberak, Waupun, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Wilma Vis, Brandon, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964, her daughter, Shirley Lang in 2004, her son-in-law, Neil Lang in 2011, six sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be directed in Dorothy's name to Pella Lutheran Church, 315 S. Madison Street, Waupun WI 53963.
