Frederick Anthony Oosterhouse, age 85 of Fox Lake and formerly of Randolph, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph with Rev. Karl Bratt officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun.

Fred’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, 208 S. High Street, Randolph from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Fred was born on March 30, 1927 in Shepherd, Montana, a son of Jacob and Trena (Spoelstra) Oosterhouse. He was united in marriage to Ruby Van Ruiswijk on August 20, 1953 in Waupun. They managed their farm for many years and later raised veal calves. For several years, Fred also sold insurance. He worked hard and was able to maintain a garden into his 80’s. Fred left a legacy of faith to his family, having a spiritual habit of daily devotions and prayer.

Fred was a faithful member of the Second Randolph Christian Reformed Church where he previously served as Elder and Deacon. He sang in the Friesland Male Chorus for several years, and also soloed for many weddings and other events. Fred was a board member of the Randolph Christian School when his children attended.

Fred is survived by seven children; Duane “Oscar” (Faye) Oosterhouse, Randolph, Richard (Sharon) Oosterhouse, Markesan, Kenneth Oosterhouse, Ronald Oosterhouse, both of Fox Lake, Keith Oosterhouse, Gordon (Christine) Oosterhouse, both of Randolph, and Sandra (Kyry) Tek, Gilbert, AZ. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Jackie Oosterhouse, Jason (Jodi) Oosterhouse, Amanda (Mike) Smedema, Barry (Jenny) Oosterhouse, Dylan Oosterhouse, Cody (Anna) Oosterhouse, Kelly (Chuck) Pitzlin, Katie Casey, David (Leah) Casey, Canyon and Summer Tek, seven great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Shirley Oosterhouse, Randolph, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, Henry, Cornelius, and Harry, and two sisters, Alice Oosterhouse and Johanna Postma.

A memorial fund is being established in Fred’s name.
