Remembering a life...Frank E. Peterson
“I pray that whatever my family remembers of me – my temper, tears, mistakes, please let them also remember the laughter and my deep love for each of them. Amen.”
Frank Edward Peterson, age 77 of Waupun, died on Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Christian Home in Waupun.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.on Tues. Jan. 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 525 W. Main Street, Waupun with Rev. Rolf Amundsen officiating. Inurnment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, with Military honors provided by American Legion Post 210 Honor Guard. Friends and relatives will be received on Tues. at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Frank was born on June 28, 1934 to Martin and Clara (Teletzke) Pederson of Horicon. At a young age, Frank started painting barns and houses with his father. On June 9, 1956, He was united in marriage to Dorothy Bender in Fond du Lac. Frank was drafted at age 17 into the U.S. Army for three years, and later he joined the Naval Reserves in Waupun. Following his service, they moved to Waupun to raise their two sons Martin and Kenneth. Frank was employed at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 42 years where he painted motors. Painting was his life, and in addition to his work, he painted cars, including his own antique cars. Frank was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waupun since 1959 where he was formerly an usher. Besides restoring his antique cars, he enjoyed country music and dancing. Also, he loved fishing and deer hunting near his cabin in the North woods at Butternut, WI. Frank was blessed with two grandchildren; Dylan and Stephanie. He was proud that Dylan is in military service with the U.S. Army and leaving for Iraq on Tuesday.
Frank is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 55 years, and his son, Kenneth Peterson of Fond du Lac, his grandchildren; Dylan Peterson and Stephanie Peterson, and three sisters; Shirley Ekus, Marjorie (James) Schneider, both of Horicon, and Diane LaHase and special friend Joe Kloostra, Beaver Dam. Frank had a special bond with his surviving half brother, Clifford (Marlene) Teletzke, Waupun. He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law; Samuel (Sharon) Bender, Taycheedah, Ella Bender Gosse, Milwaukee, and Robert Bender, Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his boyhood buddy Carl (Janet) Mahnke. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Martin Peterson, and brother and sister-in-law Alexander and Anna Bender.
A memorial fund has been established in Frank’s name.
