Eleanor Bernice Rake, age 90, and formerly of Waupun, died on Thursday, September 29, 2011at Harbor Haven Nursing Home in Fond du Lac.
Eleanor was born on March 14, 1921in MetomenTownship, a daughter of James and Bernice (Lemeisz) Wanalista. She was united in marriage to Theodore Rake on November 22, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in FoxLake. After living in FoxLake for a short time, they moved to Waupun where Eleanor was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was talented at sewing and made clothing for herself and her family. Eleanor was employed at various local business over her working years including Schultz Brothers 5 & 10; Ben Franklin; Guth Candies; Supers Ice Cream, and Coast to Coast Hardware. Eleanor was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Eleanor is survived by three daughters, Eleanor Redeker, West Bend; Monica Weeden, Madison; Kathleen (Byron) Kamphuis, Waupun; and her son Theodore (Joan) Rake, The Villages, FL. She is further survived by eight grandchildren; Mitchell (Amy) Redeker; Becky (Gary) Reynolds, Shelly (Mike) Leibundgut, Wendy (Dave) Backes, Dawn (Mark) Rohr, Jamie Rake, Jennifer (Jason) Morgan, and Nicole Kamphuis; nine great-grandchildren, Samantha and Tyler Redeker, Cayla and Jake Reynolds, Austin Leibundgut, Danny and Elisabeth Backus, Lucas and Makenna Morgan; four sisters; Theresa Mitzelfeldt, North Fond du Lac, Francis Rahn, Fox Lake, Lucille Wilde and Grace Eager, both of Randolph; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; a daughter, Paulette Rake in 1999; a son-in-law, William Redeker; two sisters, Rosemary Hrobaky, Anna Tibbetts, and six brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, with Deacon Edward F. Cody officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waupun.
Eleanor’s family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m.until hour of service.
