Kenneth David Schulz, age 71 of Brandon, passed away at his home following a long battle with cancer, on Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Ken was born on June 8, 1940 in Waupun, the son of Herman and Hazel (Maas) Schulz. He graduated from Waupun High Schoolin 1958, and attended Milwaukee Business Institute earning his degree in accounting. On January 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to Doris Krause. Ken owned and operated a TV and radio repair store in Markesan for many years. He later managed Parkview Fashions, a men’s clothing store in Waupun. He was also employed at the Do-it Center in Randolph for several years. On June 22, 2002, Ken married Hazel Vollbrecht. They enjoyed welcoming relatives and friends into their home, traveling, and their annual stay at their Florida home. Ken also enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his flowers. He was a longtime loyal member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon.

Ken is survived by his wife, Hazel, his son Timothy (Elaine) Schulz, Oshkosh, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and his brother Robert Schulz, Waunekee. He is further survived by his step-children; Richard (Judy) Vollbrecht, Brandon, Diane (Ronald) Otto, Ripon, Mark (Sandy) Vollbrecht, Howards Grove; a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Janice) Wellhouse, a sister-in-law, Laverne (Harvey) Kok, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Doris in 1975; a grandson Brad Vollbrecht, his parents; a brother-in-law, Wallace Wellhouse, two sisters-in-law, Kay (Wayne) Lueck and Ardis Bruins and his nephew David Schulz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 107 S. Prairie St.Brandon, with Rev. Stuart Dornfeld officiating. Burial will follow in the Markesan Cemetery.

Ken’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m.until the hour of service.

A memorial fund has been established in Ken’s name.
