Marie Amelia Raube, age 101 and formerly of Brandon, died peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Maple Crest Manor in Ripon.
Marie was born in Waupun Township on October 14, 1909 to Herman and Bertha (Borchardt) Raube. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon where she was a lifelong member. In 1924 she moved with her family to the newly built family farm in the town of Springvale. Marie graduated from the Brandon High School in 1928, the first in her family to do so. After high school graduation, she worked as a domestic for the Sam Pickard family in Ripon for seven years. She was then employed with a family in Madison, and enjoyed vacationing with them in California and Arizona. She returned home to care for her mother in 1945. In 1986 she left her beloved family farm and moved to Brandon with her brother Ervin. Marie was a loving sister and dear aunt who assisted with childcare, mothering several of her nieces and nephews.
Marie is survived by one sister-in-law, Hazel Raube of Brandon. She will also be missed and is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Leona Tabbert, Margaret Thiel Peterson, Verna Priepke and Anne Priepke; six brothers, John, Henry, Reinhold, Ervin, Edwin, and William Raube, and an infant brother.
A celebration service of Marie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 107 S. Prairie St. Brandon, with Rev. Stuart Dornfeld officiating. Burial will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Brandon.
The family would like to thank Maple Crest Manor and staff of their care and concern for Marie the past three years. We loved her dearly and appreciated your many acts of kindness and compassion.
