Lucille Joan Klumpers, age 89 of Waupun, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 13, 2011, while surrounded by her family at Golden Living Center - Continental Manor in Randolph.
Lucille was born on October 5, 1921 in Fond du Lac County, a daughter of Ben and Minnie (Kemink) Broadway. On April 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Allen Klumpers in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Hilda and Roger Vande Zande, at the Alto Christian Reformed Church. Lucille lovingly cared for her family, enjoying the many tasks of maintaining a household. Cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening were daily tasks that kept her busy creating a loving home. Lucille was also gifted at crocheting and embroidery, and crafted many beloved treasures for her family and friends. Lucille had a strong faith and followed her Lord’s example by helping those in need. She accompanied Allen on many mission trips to Mississippi, Kentucky, North Dakota and New Mexico. Lucille formerly belonged to the Alto Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher for twenty-five years. She was currently a member of the Alto Reformed Church. Her family gave her great joy, and she looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lucille is survived by Allen, her husband of sixty-three years, four children; Marla (Alan) Ruis, Milaca, MN, Rosalie (Walter) Stiemsma, Randolph; Beth (Mark) Vossekuil, Brandon, Lee (Renee) Klumpers, Waupun, fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three sisters; Julene (Gerald) Mulder, Waupun; Marjorie (Lowell) Bruins, Alto, Beverly “Pat” Van Dyken, Palos Park, IL, a sister-in-law, Julia Broadway, Waupun; brother and sister-in-law, Ralland and Berdine Klumpers, Waupun; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Linda Louise; an infant great-granddaughter, Riley Ash; a sister, Hilda Vande Zande; a brother, Kenneth Broadway; and two brothers-in-law, Al Van Dyken and Roger Vande Zande.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011, at Alto Reformed Church, N3697 County Road EE, with Rev. Calvin Vande Zande officiating. Burial will follow in the Alto Cemetery.
Lucille’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, January 16 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, 405 West Main Street, Waupun, and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
A Memorial Fund has been established for Cary Christian Center, 154 Cottonwood Street, Cary, Mississippi 39054.
