Viola Lilly Flegner, age 94 and formerly of Randolph, died on Monday, October 25, 2011at Golden Living Center– Beaver Dam, WI.
Viola was born on July 6, 1917 in Birnamwood, WI, a daughter of Arthur and Anna (Ruenger) Boelter. On September 29, 1936, she was united in marriage to Walter Flegner in Fairwater. They both worked hard farming in the Randolph area, and were together for over fifty years. She was a perfect mother, and loving grandmother, and great-grandmother. Following her husband’s retirement due to illness, they lived in Waupun for a few years. She moved back to the Randolph as a resident of Greenview Senior Apartments for 21 years, and then lived with and was cared for by her daughter. Viola was a member of Frieden’s Ev. Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid.
Viola is survived by her daughter, Jane Posthuma, Randolph; four grandchildren; Dale (Dawn) Posthuma, Brenda (Jeffrey) Vande Zande, Kevin (Cyndie) Flegner, Darren Flegner; two-great-grandsons; Richard (Jenny) Posthuma, and Steven (Sonja) Posthuma; and two great-great grandchildren, Hannah and Drake Posthuma; her brother, Lyle (June) Boelter, Markesan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter in 1989; her son, Larry Flegner in 2003; her son-in-law Alvin Posthuma in 2006; two sisters, Dora (Edward) Mielke, June (Fredrick) Berndt; and a brother, Clarence Boelter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, at the Frieden’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 327 Jones Drive, Randolph with Pastor Daniel Schumann officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Viola’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from noon until the hour of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Viola’s name.
