Theodore De Vries, age 74 of Randolph, passed away on June 22, 2011 at home surrounded by family.

Ted was born to Herman and Clara (Kuik) De Vries on April 26, 1937, the sixth of nine sons. Ted served in the United State Army from October 1960 to October 1962, and was stationed in Germany. On September 5, 1964 he married Susan De Vries at the First Reformed Church in Randolph. They were blessed with four children, Ken, Tony, Carmen and Amanda. Since 1972, Ted has operated his own roofing and siding business in Randolph. Ted enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. In the winter he enjoyed snowstorms, and spent many days blowing snow for his neighbors. Ted’s faith was very important to him, and he was a lifelong member of Randolph Protestant Reformed Church.

Ted is survived by Sue, his wife of forty-six years, his sons; Ken De Vries, Tony and his wife Julie De Vries, all of Randolph, his daughter, Amanda De Vries of Portage, three grandchildren; Nolan, Dylan and Abby, a great-granddaughter, Aubrey, six brothers; John and Martin, of Grand Rapids, MI, Don, Frank, Henry, and Morry, all of Randolph, his mother-in-law, Jessie De Vries, also of Randolph. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Carmen who died in infancy; his parents; two brothers Jerry and Jim; his stepfather Walter Griffioen; his father-in-law, Harry De Vries, a sister-in-law, Alice De Vries, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nancy De Vries.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Randolph Protestant Reformed Church, 229 Hammond Street with Rev. Douglas Kuiper officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Cemetery.

Ted’s family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30 until the hour of services.
